i'm back from my last official holiday and ready for my last semester of school. while on my cousin's nice little red beetle back to school it does make me realize i will miss this place after graduation. well well hopefully friends do remain friends and definitely there have been some awesome friends that i had made, acquaintances that became great friends that i will not forget, and definitely those friends that have stood by me since centuries ago. well the reason why there has been no updates - i was lazy haha. anyway for the past few holidays the roles i have taken has been quite different: one holiday i was the apprentice chef, or the seamstress, or the gardener, or the cleaner. this time is no different.

i have been pretty busy. its not that i did not go online i just was too lazy to go online to chat or to blog. hee. i still watch all arashi shows religiously and of course the johnny's new year countdown hosted by them, finished watching my innocent love and my ryusei no kizuna. surprisingly i watch a lot less tv this time round.

well for one i was santa, being the youngest in the family meant that perhaps u are the only one that has the most time, most enthusiastic and the thought of cleaning up or keeping the decoratives does not haunt you due to the amount of trouble you have to go through if u wanna celebrate or at least make your house feel a little more festive. [some background knowledge: it is very important for my parents that we always celebrate special days of the year together. however, what i meant by celebration is just having everyone gathered at the dining room enjoying some home cook dinner. even though it may be a very simple meal, such gatherings do not happen often as members of the family are gradually pursuing their dreams or must attend to their obligations. as a result, my parents do take such dinners very seriously] anyway, long story short, everyone was busy, so i decided to give everyone a surprise, since we had a really sumptuous japanese meal at the club on the previous weekend, my parents decided to just have a normal dinner at home, less hassle the better. after the christmas countdown in church, i decided to set up the christmas tree when everyone went to sleep. it has been kept in the box for very many years, but somehow having christmas with the tree always feels more cosy. i am glad. everyone else is too. but of course nobody but me has to keep the huge ass tree back into the box after new year haha.

year end means that my second brother and i will be leashed by my mom to do spring cleaning. tsk tsk. somehow i eldest brother always manage to escape housework and of course it is the same this year since he has already shifted out. so my second brother and i decided to invade his room, which is the biggest among ours, and make it into a study room. kekeke. besides all the carrying and moving of furniture around to get the best lighting and aura, my opportunistic mother decided to bank on our enthusiasm and secretly made us do more work than making a study - had to take out all the blinds that we have for a nice scrubbing. poof and i was given the task of fixing all the old wooden blinds where the string to pull were all broken, thus unusable. i manage to tie all the wooden blinds back and they are now usuable in all rooms. whoopie. although compliments were showered it opened doors to many things that i could start fixing. the price was big, because of my stupid ego i must fix all these things that needs to be fixed even though my mom will go, "oh that has been broken for a rather long time, i tried to fix it but didnt manage to, you can try" haha not only will i try i will make sure its fixed.
so i made 3 lamp shades, one is the normal kind, looks really simple but i was tough to get the tautness right. i made it out of some cloth from a tote bag haha which my mom and i hate. well my eldest brother bought these stupid japanese lamps from ikea long time ago and because of the paper it looks absolutely dipalapidated now. my mom warned me before because she tried fixing the spherical shape lamp once but once she tore out what is left of the paper remains of the lampshade the wooden ratan that gave its shape totally collapse since there were no
more paper connecting the entire rattan haha. so i formulated a way using scotch tape. and manage to fix the two other lampshades with the help of my mom's cloth pegs, silicon glue and left over rice paper from my mother's calligraphy class haha. i'm proud. i got no photos. maybe cny i go home and take.

sometimes i believe i am a very cold person. but i am happy that people do trust me with very personal things and though i do not exactly think i can help much. but i will try my best to be there to listen. with sincerity. i guess the older you get the depth of your conversational topics increases because not only can u relate to people of your age, you can understand older people better and i am still at that age where i can speak to growing primary and secondary school children. some very memorable phrases. i think she does not respect me anymore since i am not the one bringing in the money for our family. you are so poor that what is left of you is money and money alone. a person who scolds can be associated to a person that is giving a present, if you reject the present the person has to take his present back, if you ignored this person who is scolding you, the effect is the same. your book looks so difficult but i will surpass you one day. well well.

actually i spend quite a bit of time with my second brother this time. since his girlfriend is overseas. haha. anyway. like we spent our new year's eve night out chilling at starbucks and returned home just in time for the countdown. my brother since my return has been wanting to get me a gift hah. but i do not really know what to ask not really the kind who knows what to say in this kind of situation. one really bizarre thing happen - during the first week at home i was so bored i started sprinting but my (i think) pelvic bone started aching again and it was difficult or uncomfortable to even sit down so i was irritated. but my brother whether i wanna go to our usual hill trekking spot and i told him i do not think i'm capable due to the pain, but miraculously after the hour-long workout, the pain disappeared. probably this is the pain of laziness haha. of course thank goodness he was around for spring cleaning. i was fun cleaning the grills while arguing about climate change, the new business environment and the simpsons.
ringing the changes
last year was not very good but not exactly that bad as well. i know this is lame but i am going to adopt this phrase from an anime that i am currently watching haha. no matter how long the journey, it always starts with a first step. looking back i have been full of excuses: feeling stress, falling down, being forgetful. sometimes u just need someone to laugh at you and you wonder why the hell have i been moping on the past for so long on such a small issue. ultimately these are just consequences of being careless, being weak and ignorant. i guess my family members wake me up pretty well and while talking to them, i realize that i am procrastinating a fair bit by using all these excuses. its pretty hilarious when all my brother did was laugh at me about my fall, while my dad gave me a long long speech about the fall is all your fault since all i could have done was be more careful since i am walking down a slippery stairs. reality check is good :) and i'm glad i have such people around me to remind me to stop acting childish. so my new year resolution which i am going to mention out loud is to be more disciplined and finally to think less. planning is a good thing but a person who plans and does not execute is a complete failure. i am glad i still have one more semester before graduation and that is when i better my character to face the real, unguarded world.
anyway, i have been thinking about this for some time now. it has been great that my friends do drop by once in awhile to check up what have i been up to. but i am actually thinking of freezing this account. or at least stop blogging from now on. i get too lazy and nowadays i feel pretty shallow when i wanna blog and so when staring on the creating post page i stop myself from blogging. also, sometimes i feel like i'm doing my friends injustice by writing about stupid stuff. haha. 2009 is a year to grow up and a year to step up. so maybe i will stop blogging. do give me your opinions of this if u have any. for now let's enjoy the remains of our holidays for those in my school of course. anyone taking ant breadth that i can take????
