use thy imagination..

went early for my lecture this morning just so that i can get a good and centralized seat in the lecture theater. so there i was warming myself up in the perfect seat thinking that no one will be sitting next to me. bah. i was wrong. it was a pair of normal looking guys. so i was very focused on this lecture cause i usually cannot catch what the lecturer is actually saying most of the time. well the first part of the lecture was good or maybe i was just too focused. then i noticed that the guy beside me kept flexing his arm. i was very amused because he was more focused in flexing his quite-apparent-non-existent biceps (and i am so not being mean) than to what the lecturer was saying. perhaps his bladder was placed in his biceps cause he cannot stop going to the toilet, i think the contracting and relaxing has strained his poor bli(a)-cep-(d)er. wuss!

that was not the main point: since school started my mind was only allowed minimal emotional activity - most of those emo moments are quite short-lived. of course due to the lack of reading miscellaneous stuff and the insufficient amount of time for me to sit and ponder ... decided i shall do it today since i have completed my assignment and i need a short break before i embark on one crazy week. so many things happening this weekend and i have my 8-page essay due. anyway...

all this talk about imagination got me thinking about how ironic things can be. in every humanities/social science (less economics) subject most topics involve one section call "imagination". e.g.: sociological imagination, geographical imagination. basically they mean that there are things around you that forms this image of what you think the world is like and the most interesting part is - what you feel is most important will be placed in the center.

while forming an imagination we sometimes exclude and include certain things. things we deem not important, irrelevant or even things we want to forget will be placed in the 'trash bin'. so my first hypothesis is - the world actually revolves around you, your own imagination, since it is what you yourself see. however, to counteract this first hypothesis comes the second - if that person is so important that you place he/she in the center of your world, then you revolve around he/she, which means the world around you would have ceased.

for example: remember the guy flexing his arm. literally, there were many things (i.e: the world) that surrounded his inexistent biceps. but because of biasness and lies he gave himself - his world revolved around his biceps. if one day (if ever he sit beside me again) i tell him : "stop flexing your arm when there is no muscles there - it is just embarrassing." his world would have crumbled.

with less impact is the idea of globalization. we think the world is shrinking yet it is actually getting more and more diversified. what used to be simple, now, is often over-read into. what happens is no one can find a conclusion - people think too much. of course no one crumbles in the process but in order to fit in people try to lemmi-fied their thinking. of course u can say titani-fied too since its "you jump, i jump"

so now comes the conclusion, (most of the time: you raise questions that you cannot answer but try to make it sound intellectual) maybe there is nothing revolving around anything. there is no self, no you, no 'trash bin'. but of course it would be most beautiful if someone has put you in that center and you too have put the person in your epicenter. like a Venn digram with only 2 sets intersecting with each other - it turns out to be one nice unbreakable circle. i think my assignment has just killed my brains. need to flex my arm hah.

i love power and yet it is different from i crave for power.
